"Old Coots on Scoots" is not what most Bikers would consider a true motorcycle club, it's more a bunch of old guys, over forty, who really don't need a bunch of rules to govern their lives at this stage of life. I came up with the name in 1989, when a few guys were talking about "Scooter Trash" and decided, being as we seem to be long in the tooth, now in our 40's and 50's, we must now be Old Coots on Scoots. I had a close artist friend draw the above design for T-shirts, we got
such a great reaction that it's become a part of the Maui, and Hawaii's, motorcycling community.
There are about twenty guys, here on Maui, who really love to ride our scoots whenever our jobs permit, as our climate never messes with our minds. Our only problem, on an island 48 miles long and 26 miles wide, seems to be trying put miles on only 728 square miles, oh but what a piece of paradise. We have some of the most beautiful scenery to be seen from the saddle of a Harley. There are waterfalls cascading into the Pacific, coastlines with whales and the best big waves (in the winter months mid-Nov. to mid-April) to be ridden anywhere on this planet, and beaches with their show stopping women. We must be honest; the women are more eye candy for us, as they seem to look more at our scoots than at the "Coots".

When you're on our island, and would like to meet with some of the local people and find some of our unique riding areas, E-mail the address below and we will try to get some time to share our island. I'm a third generation Maui-Boy, whose family came to Maui in 1878 from New Zealand. I used to drive tours for a living, teaching visitors our history, geography, culture. At present I am involved in diversified agriculture, working with award winning plants. I have done about everything from captain of Big Game fishing boats, deep-sea diving for black coral (200 plus feet), sky-diving, surfing good size Hawaiian waves, Nam Vet., hotel management (in the 1960's), etc.
When you're on our island, I think you'll find that Maui is "no ka oi" (number one, or the best), not only in beauty, but in diversity of the riding. Contact us with the link below, so that you will be able to connect with a bike while you're on the island.
